Would the World Miss Me?

The siren is turned off

That woke me from slumber.

Instead of being wiser,

I feel dumber.

This is not a suicidal piece,

More of a contemplative one instead.

Because how would the world really feel

If I woke out dead?

Life is full of joy,

But sometimes purpose is mild.

That’s always been the case

For mom and dad’s first child.

Maybe tomorrow morning

When it’s time to claim my keep.

Instead of escaping from faux death,

I’ll remain in its sleep.

Until I’m buried six feet deep.
